Should U.S. Schools Make It Mandatory To Learn Two Languages Fluently?

In a country where ethnicities are so diverse it’s literally called a ” melting pot,” do you think that it should be mandatory to learn to speak two languages fluently in elementary education?

I understand that they do offer electives during junior high; Spanish, French, and even German. However, research suggests that children who learn a second language at an early age are more creative and better at solving complex problems than those who do not.

Studies have even shown that bilinguals outperform similar monolingual peers on both verbal and nonverbal tests of intelligence and tend to achieve higher scores on standardized tests.
